How do I delete my account?
Permanently delete your Boney account, and what happens to shared budgets.
Deleting your account is permanent: there is no bin and no grace period to undo it. If you only want to stop using Boney on this phone, signing out is enough and keeps your data.
Deleting the account
- On the home screen, tap the Settings button at the top right.
- Scroll all the way down to the Danger zone section.
- Tap Delete account.
- In the Before you go… window, write a few words about what was missing for you. At least 10 characters are needed to continue.
- Tap Confirm account deletion. Boney takes you back to the sign-in screen.
What stays in shared budgets
Your expenses in shared budgets do not disappear: otherwise the other participants' balances would become wrong. For example, if you paid $80 of groceries in the Home budget shared with Sam, that expense stays in Sam's budget and Sam's balance stays correct.
Your name, photo and email address, however, are removed from your profile.
Before deleting
- Settle open balances, or at least warn the people you share budgets with. See how to record a reimbursement.
- Cancel your Premium subscription with Manage subscription: deleting the account does not cancel it. See how to manage your Premium subscription.
- To simply sign out, tap Sign out at the top right of the settings. Your account and your data stay intact.
