Budget plan
Compare the targets of all your budgets with your average income, and adjust the ones drifting.
The budget plan gathers the targets of your personal and shared budgets over the current cycle, and compares them with your average income. It answers one question: do all your targets fit in what comes in?
Getting there
- From the Budgets screen, the Budget plan card — "See how personal and shared targets are distributed." — at the top of the list. A triangle is added when a budget exceeds or is about to exceed its target.
- From the home screen, when the plan needs attention, an alert card leads to it:
- "Target missing" / "Targets missing" — "One budget does not have a target yet."
- "Targets above income", with the To rebalance amount.
The plan is available without Premium.
The summary
Under the screen title, the current cycle's period. The summary card gives the plan state and
the number of targets set — Targets · 3/4.
| State | When | Result line |
|---|---|---|
| Plan incomplete | At least one budget has no target | Partial total of known targets |
| Budgets planned | Every target is set, no income entered | Targets per cycle |
| Targets too high | Targets exceed average income | To rebalance, with the gap |
| Plan complete | Targets fit within average income | Available margin per cycle, or Plan balance · "Aligned" |
Two amounts come with it:
- Average income — "Over 6 complete cycles", or "No income entered"
- Budget targets — the total of targets,
/ cycle
When every target is set and income exists, a bar shows the progress towards balance.
Cycle equivalents
Targets do not all share the same period. The plan brings them all back to the cycle to add them up. The information button at the top right opens Cycle equivalent:
Targets keep their frequency, then are converted to a monthly cycle. Average income uses up to 12 complete cycles, including one-off income; a cycle with no income counts as zero.
| Target | Equivalent |
|---|---|
| €1,200 / year ÷ 12 | €100 / cycle |
| €100 / week × 52 ÷ 12 | €433 / cycle |
| €1,000 / month × 60% share | €600 / cycle |
The last example applies to shared budgets: only your share of the target counts in your plan.
The budgets
The plan lists Personal budgets first, then Shared budgets, grouped by people — "With Marie, Paul". Each section shows its total.
Each row shows the target's cycle equivalent — / cycle, or share / cycle for a shared budget —
and its share of the total, for example 25% of budgeted total.
A budget without a target shows "No target" and Set target.
Target signals
The plan compares each target with what the budget actually spends. A row can carry one of these signals instead of its share of the total:
| Signal | Example | Display |
|---|---|---|
| Overrun expected in the current cycle | €480 projected for €400 budgeted | Amount and orange triangle, or red if the target is already exceeded |
| Spending usually above the target | Usually €480 for €400 budgeted | Amount in orange |
| Possible margin on a target | Opportunity · usually €210 for €400 budgeted | Amount in green, room / cycle |
A margin appears when a budget regularly spends well below its target. The green amount is the margin a target closer to the usual spending would free up. When the signal is less clear-cut, the row shows the same comparison without the word "Opportunity".
When at least one margin exists, the summary says so: "2 targets to review" and "Up to €190 of possible margin per cycle". If targets exceed income, this margin is capped at the gap to rebalance.
Adjusting a target
Tapping a row opens Edit budget straight on the target. Depending on the row's signal, the sheet adds:
- the context —
Forecast: €480 / cycleorUsual: €210 / cycle - a Suggested target, with its effect on the plan —
… freed / cycleor… added / cycle, then… to rebalance,… margin / cycleor "Plan aligned" - the Apply button, which copies the suggested amount into the field
While you type, a line follows the amount's effect on the plan: "… left to rebalance", "Plan
aligned" or … margin / cycle. With no known income, or while another budget still has no
target, it compares with the current target instead: +… margin / cycle or −… margin / cycle.
Nothing changes until you save. Back on the plan, the updated row is briefly highlighted.
A suggestion, not a rule
The suggested target starts from what the budget actually spent. It stays a proposal: you can enter another amount, or change nothing.
Adjusting is also offered from a budget's detail, when a projection goes beyond the target — see Track a budget.
Other actions
Add budget, at the bottom of the screen, opens creation. With no budget at all, the plan shows "Create a first budget" — "The plan compares personal and shared targets for the current cycle."
