Participants
Invite, accept, remove — and why a removal is sometimes refused.
Participant management screen
public/images/help/budgets/participants.pngWho can invite
Only the budget owner. The others are participants: they record expenses, they do not invite.
Inviting
The field accepts an email or a contact already met in your other budgets — the Previous contacts section suggests them. Several recipients can be added before sending.
Three possible refusals, stated plainly:
- the person is already in the budget
- an invitation was already sent to them
- the invitation limit is reached
An invitation can only be resent once every 24 hours.
On the invitee's side
The invitation opens on a summary before deciding: how many expenses are running, how many you appear in, and the balance that already represents — "You owe €42 to Marie".
Two answers: Join or Decline. Declining is not final, but you will need to be re-invited.
Two sections
Active participants and Former invitees. A participant who declined moves to the second.
Each row shows its state: Owner, You, Participant, Pending, Invitation sent, Declined.
Removing someone
The block comes from expenses, not shares
A participant involved in at least one budget expense cannot be removed. The screen shows how many expenses are still linked and lets you open them. When none remain: "No linked expense — can be removed".
For a participant who declined but still holds shares, the screen first asks you to unassign their shares.
Removal does not delete history: "Their past expenses remain."
Leaving a budget
A non-owner participant can leave. Same rule: impossible if at least one expense is linked.
When someone joins
If the split was even, it is redistributed automatically — a message confirms it: "Marie joined. Shares redistributed evenly."
