Periods and budget cycle

The setting

Settings → Budget month start. A day between 1 and 28.

The 28 bound is not arbitrary: beyond it, February months would not all carry the chosen day.

What it changes

Set to 28, a "month" runs from the 28th to the 27th. That split applies everywhere:

the cycle shown on the home screen and the available-per-day figure
budget totals on Month or Year periods
income grouping
reports and their comparisons

Why it matters

If your salary lands on the 28th and the cycle stays on the 1st, every displayed month cuts the salary in half. Totals stay accurate, but they do not describe your month — and the "available per day" figure turns wrong.

A budget's opening period

Each budget carries its own period: Week, Month or Year. Month and Year follow the cycle; Week follows the current week.

Moving around

Expense and income lists step from one period to the next. On an empty period, the screen offers to return to the current one rather than leaving you on a blank view.

Changing the cycle later

Possible at any time. No expense is modified: only the way periods are cut changes, and totals recompute against the new boundaries.
